Taizé Service

6:30 p.m.  |  First Wednesday of the month

Please join us on the first Wednesday of each month for a meditative prayer service that features singing, scripture, and silence in the Taizé style of worship.

The Season of Advent

Advent is the season of preparation to welcome Christ anew in our lives, our hearts, and our minds as we approach the celebration of Jesus’ birth at Christmas. Just as we busy ourselves outwardly with all the Christmas preparations, these four weeks of Advent offer us special invitations to: de-clutter our inner lives... set intentional quiet times for reflection and prayer… grant space for God to work within us and through us to bring hope, peace, joy, and love that only Jesus Christ can bring.

Prayer in the Style of Taizé offers us just such an opportunity for weaving the simplicity of quiet and prayer through beautiful music as we prepare our hearts for the in-breaking of Christ anew into our lives.

Monthly Meditation:

A Prayer by Brother Roger

Jesus our joy, the simple desire for your presence is already the beginning of faith. And in our life, the hidden event of a longing causes wellsprings to gush forth: kindness, generosity, and also that inner harmony which comes from the Holy Spirit in us.

Scripture for Meditation

Be patient, therefore, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.

James 5:7-8

Monthly Meditation:

A Prayer by Brother Roger

Jesus, light of our hearts, since your resurrection, you always come to us. Whatever point we may be at, you are always waiting for us. And you tell us: Come to me you who are overburdened and you will find relief.

With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:6-8
