Take a journey with us this season with our Daily Advent Calendar. Each day includes scripture, a short meditation, and a poem.

These devotionals are a great way to start your day with a moment of grounding and begin a conversation with others about this special season, whether at home or on our campus.

ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS MARKET

Starts November 26, 2023

Join the Alternative Christmas movement!

Each year, AHUMC partners with local mission and ministry initiatives to create the Alternative Christmas Market. Each donation comes with a beautiful Christmas Card that you can give to someone and let them know a donation has been made in their honor. 

Come by the market in the Atrium on Sundays from November 26 - December 17 and see how your donation will help serve and love others.

MANGER COLLECTION DRIVE 2

Starts December 3, 2023

Be the miracle this Christmas by donating items that will benefit children in various communities. Any donation, big or small, can make a difference this season.

The second drive will consist of children's twin bedding in a bag, which is in partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace from this year's Bunk Bed Build. Donations can be left in any of the mangers starting Sunday, December 3, and then throughout the week until the next week's drive begins. Mangers will be located in the Atrium, Christian Life Center, and Sanctuary.

FESTIVAL DE NAVIDAD

December 9, 2023

You're invited to A Night in Bethlehem—a fun Christmas event for the community. This holiday adventure lets families explore the city of Bethlehem through an array of activities. Guests will visit booths and enjoy hands-on experiences, crafts, and snacks.

All activity shops will be located indoors in the CLC. Live nativity performances and animals will be outdoors.

CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS

Each year for our Christmas Eve services, we adorn the Sanctuary and the Christian Life Center (CLC) with poinsettia plants alongside our beautiful Christmon trees. Plants and flowers in our worship spaces, including our Christmas poinsettias, are not included in the yearly budget, so we rely on your generosity to provide them.

THURSDAY LUNCH BUNCH HOLIDAY DELIGHT

December 14, 2023

Join the Thursday Lunch Bunch for its annual Holiday Delight! This event is sure to be a festive one full of joy, amazing food, and great company. Meals are only $6 per person.

This year's menu will consist of: Chicken with White Wine Sauce, Rice, Green Beans Almodine, Yeast Rolls, Lime Congealed Salad, Carolina Christmas Wassail, and Red Velvet Cake.

Reservations must be made by Tuesday, December 12! To reserve your spot, please contact Leah Jayne.

LESSONS & CAROLS

December 17, 2023

Join us for a special Lessons & Carols worship service at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

This musical celebration of Advent includes a full orchestra and all of the AHUMC choirs.

AMAHL & THE NIGHT VISITORS

December 17, 2023

Join AHUMC and OPERA San Antonio for a FREE holiday performance of Amahl & the Night Visitors on Sunday, December 17 at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

This 45-minute opera is a family friendly story that takes place on the night the three Wise Men are following a star to Bethlehem.

ONE SERVICE ON NEW YEAR'S EVE

December 31, 2023

Join us for a special "How Do We Measure a Year?" worship service on New Year's Eve! We will worship together in the Christian Life Center at 10:30 a.m. Including music and reflections from Broadway, Hymns and Pop Culture, Rev. Linda Baumheckel will lead this spiritual send-off of 2023 before the New Year begins.

While Sunday School classes will not meet, the nursery will be open for childcare.

EPIPHANY KING CAKES

Pre-orders now available! Please consider supporting the New Zion Youth Choir and their efforts to raise funds for their summer mission trip by purchasing Epiphany King Cakes. Whole or individual cakes are available for purchase.

Pre-orders can be placed until Sunday, January 6. Cakes will be available for pick up on Sunday, January 7 in the Atrium. There will also be extras made for purchase on pick up day!
